Kate Spade’s NYFW show is all about maximalist animal print style: Shop the trend starting at $10
The one big trend that Kate Spade is enforcing for 2019 is one we can’t get enough of — bright and colorful animal prints. On Wednesday, the brand held its fall/winter 2019 show in New York’s historic Cipriani Wall Street hall, and one step inside, revealed Kate’s world — a lilac carpet rolled out and an oversize transparent rotunda placed in the center of the vast space.
Once the lights turned dim, models strutted the catwalk wearing vibrant-colored leopard dresses, turbans, ’70s-style flared suits and snakeskin embossed knee-high boots in a rich color palette of mustard yellow, crimson red and royal blue. It was clear that “animal print mania” is a focus for fall fashion this year. We already saw the leopard skirt trend dominate much of 2018, but 2019 is all about mixing and matching different animal prints for a lush and vibrant contrast of textures. Get ready to embrace a maximalist style, because the more prints, the better.
Since Spade’s tragic death in June 2018, the designer’s legacy continues to live on through a new creative director, Nicola Glass, who has modernized the American heritage brand we all grew to know and love. The same pinch of sweetness is still inherent in the line, but the Kate Spade girl has grown up — and so did her clothes.
If you can’t wait until this fall to get your hands on the new Kate Spade collection, or are not quite ready to fully embrace this maximalist style—shop 9 different ways to incorporate this bold print into your wardrobe today, starting at just $10.
