Katharine McPhee and David Foster Reunite on Stage After Family 'Tragedy'
Katharine McPhee joined her husband David Foster onstage again after having to drop out of his Asia tour due to the tragic death of their nanny, Yadira Calito.
The 73-year-old's wife was able to join a private concert at the Villa Rufulo in Italy, which was held on Aug. 22.
In a collection of clips shared on Instagram, Erich Bergen—who was one of the night's performers—gave a glimpse at McPhee's performance. The first two videos feature Bergen and McPhee teaming up for a reimagined duet of Frankie Valli's classic "Can't Take My Eyes off You."
Bergen captioned the carousel, "Singing Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons songs in Italy just seems appropriate. So great to perform with my friends @davidfoster @katharinefoster and @thelondonessentials."
On Aug. 11, the Smash alum announced to fans on social media that she unfortunately wouldn't be able to perform on Foster's Jakarta, Indonesia shows after experiencing a "horrible tragedy in our family," noting that "at least one of us needs to get back home to our family."
Four days later, it was revealed that their son Rennie's nanny died after being struck by a car at a Toyota dealership.
Sources shared to TMZ that Calito was standing in the customer reception area when an 84-year-old woman accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, which caused her SUV to drive through the building, pinning the child's caretaker under the vehicle and dragging her for 20 feet. Once she was freed, Calito was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
