Katie Couric Dons Floral Dress at 'Nail Biter' US Open Match
Katie Couric dressed to the nines for the first night of the U.S. Open.
The famed journalist attended the tennis tournament held at Flushing Meadows in New York City with her husband John Molner in matching outfits.
Couric went for a black dress with blue and pink printed flowers, paired with minimal silver jewelry. Meanwhile, Molner went for a powder blue plaid jacket paired with a matching light blue shirt and blue-and-white tie, grayish blue pants, and a U.S. Open cap.
The couple was dressed in attire less casual than many of the other attendees, as they had attended the USTA Foundation's 22nd annual Opening Night Gala, which Couric emceed. Besides sharing photos and footage of the match on Instagram, the 66-year-old also uploaded snaps from the private event, posing with Danny DeVito.
Couric captioned her U.S. Open carousel, "So thrilled to be at the @usopen last night (I’m so tired it took me awhile to post this!) I emceed an event for the @ustafoundation which gives under resourced kids access to tennis, mentorship and academic enrichment. This organization changes lives and I’m so proud to be a part of it!"
She also detailed her reaction to the match between Coco Gauff and Laura Seigemund, calling it a "real nail biter," with "Seigemund running the clock on her serve and frustrating Coco with her slow pace of play. Coco persevered and won the match!"
Couric also mentioned the celebrities she crossed paths with at the event, which included Gayle King, Seal, Sara Bareilles, and Alec Baldwin, as well as superstar athletes Maria Sharapova, Lindsey Vonn, Tracy Austin, and Chris Evert.
