We do as Katie Holmes does. Does that mean we ordered so many plaid KN95 masks from Maskc after we saw her wear them on repeat for weeks? Ya. Ya it does. And does it mean we're also planning on ordering the $3 Houndstooth face mask from Amazon she's recently switched to? Ya, ya it does. Sure we may be predictable, but we do love a responsible and safe queen. What can we say?

While out in New York on Christmas Day, Holmes wore this exact mask with a pair of $500 Acne Studios sweatpants that are currently on sale for $306, some celeb-loved New Balance x Staud sneakers that are selling out fast at Nordstrom, and an A.P.C. bag. Holmes always has a knack for finding masks that aren't just practical, but comfortable and cute, which isn't necessarily the easiest combo to pull off. It looks perfect with her casual look, while adding a pop of print.
At this point in the pandemic, we're tired of surgical face masks — not that we won't wear them if we have to — but there's something nice about wearing one that offers protection while not completely clashing with our outfit. The Barriere houndstooth one Holmes just wore in New York does just that and more.
The print, of course, feels very apt for the weather, easily matches with any look, and is Holmes-approved. It basically checks off all the criteria we're looking for. Not only that, but the 5-pack on Amazon also costs $15, which means each mask is just $3. For a lightweight disposable 3-ply mask with an adjustable nose bar, that's a steal. For comparison, Jennifer Lopez and Oprah's favorite 3-ply face mask, which we also swear by, costs $18 for just one.
As we, unfortunately, end 2021 on a similar note to the way 2020 started, we're going to mask up as intensely as possible now in hopes that 2022 will look far different than the last two years. In other words, you can catch us in a nearby cafe working on our vision board for next year while wearing this Katie Holmes approved mask, although we'll probably be in a pair of more affordable sweats (or these feathered PJs).
