Katie Holmes Shared a Touching Note for Daughter Suri Cruise on Her 14th Birthday

In news that will make you feel extremely old, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's daughter, Suri, turns 14 years old today. Yes, you read that right, fourteen.

In honor of her only child becoming a full-fledged teenager, Holmes celebrated Suri's special day on social media with a touching tribute. "Happy Birthday Sweetheart!!!!!!! I am so blessed to be your mom. May this year be incredible," she wrote on Instagram.

Sadly, her sweet note didn't accompany a photo of Suri, but it did display a homemade birthday banner Holmes created out of cut-out letters and flowers. With the current coronavirus lockdown, Katie appears to have had time to get creative.

Now that Suri is all grown up, Holmes recently revealed to InStyle that she's starting to explore her different passions.

“I love her so much,” the actress said. “My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality, to make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident and able. And to know it. She came out very strong — she’s always been a strong personality. She'll pick an activity and work her butt off until she's really good at it. Then she's like, 'OK, I'm going to try the next thing.'”

Interestingly enough, Katie's craftiness is something that she has passed down to Suri. Discussing how a sense of artistry runs in her family, Holmes explained: "I've always wanted Suri to feel empowered [in that way] too. I remember asking her what kind of party she wanted for her fourth or fifth birthday, and she said a fairy party. So we went to the fabric store and picked out everything we needed for fairies. I wanted her to create things instead of having stuff done for her. That way she was always in charge."
