KC's Marina Pointe revamps new menu with old favorites
EVANSVILLE ? Outdoor dining in the summertime is a treat, especially with a great view.
KC's Marina Pointe Nightclub, Bar & Grill is a favorite summer destination. Operating only during the warm months, the open-air bar and restaurant perches atop the bank of the Ohio River south of Downtown on Waterworks Road.
A restaurant at “Marina Pointe” has been in place for decades, but before 2017 it spent some time empty and had a few short-term owners with different restaurant concepts. Then KC Chesser of KC’s Time Out Lounge bought it, gave the building a major facelift, added to the size, and rolled out “KC’s Marina Pointe” with all the hallmarks of his nightlife restaurants – lots of live music on the weekends, good bar food, and a honky-tonk party atmosphere.
The menu at the Marina Pointe centers on good pub grub with a special emphasis on fish and seafood. While the central focus is the bar, the restaurant is family friendly and welcomes kids until 8 p.m.
New menu items
There are a whole slew of new menu items this year at Marina Point. Many of them are old best sellers that guests have requested be brought back, so you may see some of your favorites back online alongside the bar's wings, burgers and other sandwiches. New items are:
Seafood Boils, $16 – A shrimp boil includes a half pound of shrimp, Old Fashioned Butcher Shoppe Andouille sausage, boiled eggs, corn on the cob and red potatoes in a spicy broth. Make it a snow crab and shrimp combo for $22.
Fried Fish Sandwich, $12 – A giant hand breaded cornmeal coated catfish filet with lettuce, tomato, onion and tartar sauce on a brioche bun served with fries.
Shrimp Tacos, $11 – Choose crispy, grilled or blackened shrimp with creamy slaw, pico de gallo, and boom boom sauce in flour tortillas.
Fish Tacos, $13 - Choose crispy, grilled or blackened catfish with creamy slaw in flour tortillas.
Catfish Nuggets, $9 – Fresh-fried, cornmeal breaded tender catfish nuggests served in a basket with tartar sauce.
Cheese Quesadilla, $7 – A large flour tortilla filled with mixed cheeses, grilled peppers and onion, served with sour cream. Diners may add Philly steak or chicken for an additional cost.
Shrimp Cocktail – Jumbo gulf shrimp cooked with Old Bay seasoning and lemon, served with cocktail sauce.
Taco Flatbread. $12 – Topped with beef, mild sauce, cheeses, lettuce, tomato, onion, olives, crushed tortilla chips and Mexican Ranch dressing.
Cheeseburger Flatbread, $12 – Topped with ground beef, onions, tomato, sliced pickle, mozzarella and special sauce.
Buffalo Chicken Flatbread, $12 – Buffalo chicken with hot or mild sauce, blue cheese, mozzarella and scallions.
Wagyu Dog with Chili, $9 – An all wagyu beef hot dog on a poppy seed bun with or without chili, cheese and onion. Served with fries.
Note that after about 10 p.m., a late night menu with a burger, wings, fried shrimp, loaded fries and a few more sandwiches and appetizers is served.
The Dive Barge
Chesser last year acquired the neighboring Dive Barge (formerly OV Tiki Time Bar & Grill) and rolled it in with the Marina Pointe property. As the name suggests, it’s an actual barge tethered on the river next to the Marina Pointe, fitted with seating, bar and a small kitchen. It is a separate restaurant with its own menu of sandwiches, wings, burgers and tacos. If you’re at the Marina Pointe, take a walk down the ramp to the Dive Barge for a nightcap on the waves before you leave.
