Keep Your Knives Out: A Sequel Is Coming to Satisfy All Your Sweater Needs
Just when you thought it was safe to put your knives in, director Rian Johnson is writing a sequel to the blockbuster whodunit, this time focused on the further exploits of Daniel Craig's eccentric detective character Benoit Blanc. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson said at a pre-Golden Globes party that he is developing a screenplay for another story in the extravagantly stylish universe of the first film. Though the sequel hasn't been confirmed by Lionsgate, the studio behind Knives Out, there's little doubt it will be, especially considering the original film remains in the top 10 six weeks after its release and has grossed $247 worldwide.
Since the events of Knives Out might make the return of some of the most impeccably dressed cast members difficult (though not impossible) in a sequel, the most pressing question becomes: Who will wear the amazing zeitgeist-y sweater this time? Honestly, if the Knives Out sequel was just two hours of Benoit Blanc madly searching through different online stores trying to find the exact cable knit sweater that Chris Evans wore, I'd be totally satisfied. We don't even need dialogue, actually. Just a lot of intense shots of Daniel Craig staring at a computer screen and a huge conspiracy board filled with photos of Chris Evans. Johnson doesn't even need to write a screenplay for this; Lionsgate should greenlight on this premise alone.
It's still too early to speculate about who might fill out the sure-to-be star-studded cast in what I'm calling Knives Out: 2 the Point, but I've helpfully taken the liberty of making a list of performers who look good in either a sweater or the color white. I'll send you an invoice for my services, Rian.
