Kelly Clarkson Fans Applaud Her 'Totally Amazing' Cher Cover

Cher is the latest celebrity to fall victim to "the Kelly Clarkson effect"—when the American Idol alum performs an iconic song as good as (or better than) the original artist. Because now, fans are applauding Clarkson's "totally amazing" cover of Cher's new Christmas tune, "DJ Play a Christmas Song."

On Tuesday, Dec. 19, the talk show host belted out the song as part of her "Kellyoke" segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Clarkson's powerful vocals and enthusiastic delivery wowed viewers, who lauded her performance in a clip published via YouTube.

One person wrote, "Kelly just makes everything better. I love her enthusiasm about singing Cher's song. So cute/adorable. And of course she slays with the vocals (as usual)! Love."

Another fan commented, "I love this Christmas Song, Kelly Clarkson is the best singer, totally amazing."

Meanwhile, another viewer declared, "Queens supporting Queens Cher allowing Kelly to cover a brand new song makes her a RAD HUMAN!"

Yet another person wrote, "The ENERGY and THE VOICE. I definately [sic] feel the warmth right now."

Coincidentally, Cher recently appeared as a guest on Clarkson's talk show—during which she compared her new holiday tune to a Mariah Carey chart-topping track.

"'DJ Play a Christmas Song'—I'm gonna say it, fight me on it—is the greatest Christmas song to come out since 'All I Want for Christmas Is You,'" the talk show host declared. "It's the greatest contemporary Christmas song to come out. Like, I love it so much. It makes me so happy."

Whether or not fans agree that Cher's new holiday song is better than the Queen of Christmas' mega-hit, one thing's for sure: Clarkson seriously nailed her Cher cover.
