The show must go on. Even if you're suffering from an extremely painful abdominal condition.

Remember that flawless opening medley of hits Kelly Clarkson performed during Wednesday's Billboard Music Awards? (Yeah, the one where she belted out a Mariah Carey hit and rapped in Spanish). Well turns out, the ceremony's host was powering through appendicitis the entire time.

"Kelly Clarkson has been suffering from appendicitis all week & had her appendix removed this morning," tweeted Buzzfeed's senior entertainment editor, Jarett Wiselman, "yet last night she flawlessly hosted an award show and sang two songs without showing any sign of discomfort. How could you do anything BUT STAN?!?"

We have to completely agree with Wiselman. Of course we praise the singer-songwriter for hosting a live, nationally televised awards show-for three hours-while likely experiencing symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and piercing stomach pain. Oh, and did we mention no one noticed a thing until she revealed the news the next day?

"Not gonna lie.... I may or may not have broken down in tears after the show from pain BUT thanks 2 all the [sic] amazing people @ Cedars-Sinai I flew home directly after the event, nailed the surgery early this morning, & feeling awesome now! Bye bye appendix #TheShowMustGoOn," the "Broken & Beautiful" singer tweeted.

And that, people, is what we call a true professional.
