Kelly Ripa, 49, just shared a hilarious meme detailing her gray root progression.
The Live with Kelly and Ryan host showed various shots of her hair from January through the summer.
Ripa has been open about how she’s embracing her gray roots during the coronavirus pandemic.
Kelly Ripa just added a hilarious twist to the viral 2020 challenge floating around Instagram. The Live with Kelly and Ryan host decided to use the cheeky meme to show off how her gray hair has progressed in 2020.
On Sunday, Ripa shared a meme to Instagram revealing how her gray roots have grown in from January and how they’ll continue to look come September. In January, Ripa’s hair is a stylish, golden blonde. By March and April (those early days of quarantine!), you can see her gray roots peeking through. By May and June, her blonde roots have gone totally gray.
“Perhaps this meme is a week old at this point… but does that really compare to these roots? ?? My version of the #2020Calendar is just...real…. ????♀?????,” she joked in the caption.
Fans are totally into the gray look, though. “You can rock that grey!! Go for it,” one fan wrote, while another person said, “??????You look beautiful no matter your root color...we love you!”
“Those roots are made for talking...” joked Bethenny Frankel. Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos clearly loves the look, writing a simple “????.”
This isn’t the first time Ripa’s gotten real about her grays. In fact, the Live with Kelly and Ryan host has been embracing them all year long. Ripa started a #RootWatch series on Instagram to log her gray growth, sharing updates to her Instagram Story and also on TV.
In April, Ripa and Consuelos hosted Live with Kelly and Ryan together, and the host said she’s been using root spray to keep things looking even. “Anybody that follows me on Instagram knows that [my hair] is sprayed,” she said, while tilting her head down to face the camera and parting her hair to show off her gray strands. “You can kind of see it forcing. It wants to show you. It wants you to see the reality.”
When May came around, Ripa revealed a new hack she had for disguising her gray roots on TV. She simply used two large clips to cover up her grays. “Anyone with gray hair can tell you, it’s very wired. It tends to stand up, and yes, I’m spraying my roots with the touch-up spray and it looks dark,” she explained. “These little clips, and you can see I’ve sprayed them brown too, these little clips really like, hold the gray.”
Based on Ripa’s 2020 prediction, it looks like gray is here to stay for the host until at least September—might as well embrace it!
