Before Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos were one of Hollywood’s most adorable couples, they were an on-screen duo on the soap opera All My Children. And it turns out Ripa knew she’d end up with Mark in real life before they ever met.

According to People, Kelly told a sweet story on the Radio Andy podcast of how she knew Mark was the one. She was already playing Hayley on All My Children, and was part of the audition process to find an actor to play Mateo, Hayley's husband. “I saw my husband in a photograph before I saw him,” Kelly told host Bruce Bozzi. “I knew when I saw his photograph."

At the time, Mark didn’t have much acting experience, but landed the role after an extensive search. “They had been looking for this character for some time. They were looking really for a Latino actor, not an actor that was like - they didn’t want like a dark-haired guy. They wanted a Latino actor,” she said. “And so I had auditioned every Latino actor in the city and around the city and then California. And then all of a sudden, Judy Blye Wilson, who was the casting director at All My Children, said, ‘I found him.’”

And when Kelly saw who Judy had found, she felt something she’d never felt before. “At that point, I was not a hopeless romantic. I never thought about getting married, it never occurred to me that I would grow old with someone,” she said. “When I saw him, the photograph of him, I saw my entire future with him flash before [my eyes]. And I don’t believe in any of that, and now I do because of that moment.”

These days, the couple takes lots of time to pay tribute to one another on social media-and fend off haters, too. Kelly hosts Live With Kelly and Ryan, and Mark stars on Riverdale. But they both have their soap opera pasts to thank for their long-lasting relationship.
