Kelly Ripa says her and Mark Consuelos' kids have 'blocked any channel with any mention of our names' on social media
While the world might want to see what Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are up to, their kids certainly don’t. On Friday, the Live show host told E! News that her children Michael, 25, Joaquin, 20 and Lola, 21 have blocked them on social media.
"I'm pretty sure they've blocked us," Ripa shared of her childrens’ social media use. "When you have a newsfeed and it says 'suggest more or suggest this, like this or block this channel,' I'm certain they have blocked any channel with any mention of our names. Just like they block us on social media. They block us any way they can,” she said.
"They're in a whole ‘nother subculture," she continued. "They're like, ‘What do you mean? What are you guys doing?' They have no idea. They don't really pay attention to what we're doing. They're just happy that mom and dad are finding ways to pass the time since they've left the house."
And that might be for the best. In 2020, Ripa joked with People that once she and her husband transitioned to empty-nesters they planned to “be totally naked at all times.”
“We are going to change the locks,” she teased. “People are like, ‘oh, you’re gonna miss the kids.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know, I wanna experiment with it. See how that goes.’”
Another reason they might be blocked? In 2019, the Riverdale actor shared with People that the couple’s fashionista daughter Lola is “mortified by everything we put on.” “I do ask her for advice sometimes, you know, she’ll let us know if something’s bad,” he explained.
Ripa added “she doesn’t even bother with me. She just feels that what I wear is embarrassing and awful. But then I think that means that I’ve gotten something right. I don’t think your teenage daughters should like what you’re wearing.”
Consuelos and Ripa have been married for almost 27 years. They met in 1995 on the set of All My Children and eloped in 1996.
In 2020, Ripa shared her advice for a long marriage. “You’re going to fight, you’re going to have disagreements. Relationships, marriages are not sprints; it’s a marathon,” she explained at the time. “There’s going to be like, mile 24, when you’re like, ‘I quit.’ But you just got to push through. Just push through.”
