Kelly Ripa is ebullient, joyful, and a Hollywood multi-threat at 50 years old, so you know she's picked up countless beauty tricks along the way. One such secret emerged this week via Ripa's Instagram: While promoting her partnership with supplement brand Persona, Ripa broke down her top three beauty tips for staying in such great shape. They number the aforementioned supplements, sunscreen, and the kicker, a satin pillowcase.
She didn't mention exactly which pillowcase she uses, but we did a little digging and found a 2015 "Live with Kelly and Ryan" clip where she tells Jon Hamm about first discovering the wonders of a silk pillowcase. "I sleep on a silk pillowcase because when I first cut my hair, I'd wake up in the morning with crazy bedhead all over the place," she said. "And Diane D'Agostino, my hairstylist, said, you've got to get a silk pillowcase because it'll keep your hair under control and your face won't wrinkle."
Apparently the advice panned out, because six years later and her love for the trick is still going strong (and clearly working). On Amazon, there are a number of contenders for an excellent silk pillowcase, but three great options under $50 have cumulatively earned nearly 43,000 five-star ratings — wild times.
Coming in hot with over 17,000 five-star ratings, the Zimasilk 100 Percent Mulberry Silk Pillowcase earns raves specifically for its heavenly effect on wrinkles. An enthusiastic shopper said they "sigh and smile contentedly" into their pillow at least 12 times a night because it feels so good, and the improvement it has on fine lines is extreme. "You will apologize to your poor face constantly for all the years you dragged it along a scratchy cotton surface all night long," they wrote. "Don't blame yourself. You didn't know."

Another wrote that upon waking their skin was soft and smooth, with absolutely no lines or wrinkles and significantly less hair breakage. Likewise highly-rated is Ravmix's hypoallergenic 100 Percent Pure Mulberry Silk Pillowcase, especially beloved by those in search of softer skin and less frizzy curls. It earned the rhetorical question "Am I happy? Can rabbits hop?" from one shopper, who praised the smooth, wrinkle-free skin they now wake to.
The anti-aging difference isn't just speculative, someone in their 30s notes, writing that pre-silk pillowcase, they saw scattered fine lines around their eyes. The Ravmix significantly decreased them, leaving the shopper happy and impressed. Another shopper said it makes them "sleep like a pampered baby" (pandemic goals), and it's so gentle on their curls that they refuse to snooze without it — especially intriguing from a user with the handle "The Bearded Hiker." Multitudes!

On the baby theme, the Slpbaby 100 Percent Natural Pure Silk Pillowcase is the final silk pillowcase to know about, with over 10,000 five-star ratings. The Zimasilk and Ravmix come in tons of pretty solids, whereas the Slpbaby also runs in over two dozen classic and eclectic prints. Colorway regardless, the pillowcase indeed babies those with super sensitive, eczema and acne-prone skin.
After two weeks of sleeping on it, one shopper says they've found their hair softer than ever (even after switching to money-saving hair products), and morning breakouts and wrinkles are gone. A different person says they saw "major improvement" to their hair and skin after a few nights, and that the pillowcase decreased lines, marks, and wrinkles.

"The fact that I sleep on my side and can wake up with no facial wrinkles and my hair never looks like I slept on it makes this silk pillowcase my absolute favorite," adds another. And not only that, but others add that their hair sometimes even looks better after resting on the pillowcase — a major change from waking up with such strong bedhead, Face ID didn't recognize them. In the words of Ripa, sometimes she slides off the pillowcase, but the skin and hair benefits are beyond worth it.
