Fashion shows are great, but fashion shows with a performance? Even better. Carol Lim and Humberto Leon know this all to well, which is why, after a star-studded performance for their Opening Ceremony collection during NYFW, they took the show on the road, flying a traditional Japanese theater group to Paris to perform Kagura during the presentation of their second Memento collection.

"Kenzo Takada launched Kenzo Jeans in 1986 by taking eastern principles and fusing them with western, American material," the show notes read. "It's the resulting aesthetic we celebrate tonight." A play in three acts, the first showed several dancers bringing a mythical eight-tailed dragon to life and receiving a young human sacrifice. Act 2 served as a pause for the actual fashion show: dark denim wrap tops, vibrant fauna print tops, bottoms, and swimsuits; overalls and vacation clothes like floppy bucket hats, and, of course, fanny packs made their way down the runway. Act 3 brought us Susanoo, the Shinto god of storms, who descends to earth to slay the beast.

A fun treat to end a long day, the ode to Takada made for a cultural event and wearable collection, a win-win during fashion week.
