How Kevin Costner Really Feels About Split from Wife Christine
Many are stunned by the news that Kevin Costner's wife, Christine Baumgartner, filed for divorce from the actor after 18 years of marriage.
Now, a source is sharing Costner's opinion on the news, telling People, "It was not anything that he wanted or sought, and if he could change the situation, he would."
Previously, Costner's rep confirmed that Baumgartner had filed for divorce, saying, "It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action."
Based on the source's statement, it appears that Costner is against the divorce, but is currently cooperating with the proceedings.
Costner and Baumgartner have been married since 2004, but the two first started dating six years earlier, after connecting at a restaurant in 1998.

The couple shares three kids: sons Cayden, 15, and Hayes, 14, and daughter Grace, 12. Costner is also the father of three kids with his first wife, Cindy Silva, whom he was married to between 1978 and 1994. They share daughters Annie, 39, and Lily, 36, and son Joe, 35. The actor also has a son named Liam, 26, with Bridget Rooney.
Since 2018, Costner has starred as John Dutton on the hit TV show Yellowstone, alongside fellow cast members Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, and more.
It was just reported that Costner would be leaving the show after the current fifth season is done, possibly due to a rumored rift between the lead actor and show creator Taylor Sheridan.
But he won't be leaving the Western genre, as Costner is directing, writing, and starring in a film series called Horizon: An American Saga, focusing on the American West in the time surrounding the Civil War. Also starring are Michael Rooker, Sienna Miller, Jena Malone, Sam Worthington, and many more big names.
