KGET, Bakersfield East Rotary host ‘Back to School’ drive for kids at Open Door Network

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — KGET and the Bakersfield East Rotary are hosting the annual “Back to School” drive benefitting the kids of the Open Door Network.

KGET and the Bakersfield East Rotary want to make Kern’s students are set up for success as they head back to the classroom in just a few weeks.

2024 back-to-school events in Bakersfield, Kern County

Any and all school supply donations will be appreciated. Some of the items needed include:

  • New or gently used clothing for boys and girls ages 4 to 17.

  • New packs of underwear

  • Backpacks

  • Notebooks

  • Paper

  • Crayons

  • Markers

  • Pencils

Whatever you’re picking out for your own kids, please consider buying extras to donate.

You can drop off your much needed donations at the KGET studios located at the corner of 22nd and L Streets. The Bank of America location on California Avenue also has a donation drop off station.

Can’t make it one of the above locations? No worries, there are other Bank of America locations around town you can drop off your donations at:

  • 5021 California Ave.

  • 3800 Ming Ave.

  • 9000 Ming Ave.

  • 2800 Oswell St.

  • 4480 Coffee Rd.

  • 1201 Baker St.

All locations will be accepting donations through Aug. 2. Monetary donations are also welcomed. You can contribute to Kern County student’s success by donating at the following link.
