Fans slam Khloé Kardashian for diet shakes ad: 'Still promoting starving and using laxatives?'
Just days after being accused of cultural appropriation for wearing her hair in cornrows on vacation, Khloé Kardashian has fired up fans with her sponsored post promoting meal-replacement shakes.
It’s not the 34-year-old reality star’s first time being slammed for plugging diet products on social media. In March, actress Jameela Jamil called Kardashian “irresponsible” for running an Instagram ad for Flat Tummy Co. shakes, which the company claims will help users lose weight.
But Kardashian — whose famous sisters have also gotten flak for their diet ads — appears to have shrugged off any backlash. The mom of one has posted another ad for Flat Tummy Co. meal replacement shakes, saying they have her “seriously feeling so good.” She also credits them with controlling her “cravings.”
Fans are once again taking her to task and accusing the star of setting an unhealthy example.
“How can you post ‘inspirational quotes’ literally all day long but then promote laxatives to young impressionable girls?” wrote a disappointed commenter.
“Khloé, please stop promoting this tea!” read another comment. “I does not help anyone! And sorry but we all know you don’t drink those shakes!”
“If you actually drink it I think this pic would be of you on the toilet,” one joked.
“Anything for a buck, eh?” added a commenter.
“You have a daughter,” admonished another follower. “Set a better example for her than shilling dangerous toxic teas. Please. You have the privilege to only pursue projects you’re passionate about. This can’t be that.”
“[I love you so much] Khloé but I don’t think promoting these teas are good for your brand,” a fan added. “We all know that’s not how you got your body, you work out crazy for your body. Why not promote that instead of this?”
Another commenter said Kardashian was “still promoting starving and using laxatives to [her] young female audience.”
Kardashian hasn’t responded to the negative reactions — though she has posted another slew of motivational quotes, including, “Positive people also have negative thoughts — they just don’t let it control them.”
Cardi B has also been slammed for promoting diet products on social media, with Jameela Jamil saying she hoped her “laxative nonsense ‘detox’ teas” would make her “s*** [her] pants in public.”
