People are asking how to cook a turkey in a microwave, and their parents are freaking out
You know the expression: No matter how old you are, you never stop needing your parents.
But the week before Thanksgiving, adult children are flipping the script on their moms and dads by asking them a prank question about a certain cooking no-no. A new internet challenge has kids asking their parents, “How long do you need to microwave a 25-pound turkey?” — often in the context of a Friendsgiving celebration — and parents are horrified and worried about their children’s health, and that of whoever may be celebrating with them.
Carlos Fernandez worries his mother further by asking if he is going to get “salmon and ella.”

Plenty of parents have been so shocked that they’ve recommended their child go to the nearest grocery store to get a rotisserie chicken instead.

Instead of tackling the question of getting the turkey properly cooked, this person’s mother absolutely went in and questioned her daughter’s ability to ever find a spouse.

Kenzie Knigin’s mother was so outraged she immediately left a voicemail on her daughter’s phone not only questioning why she would try to microwave a turkey but asking why she would buy a 25-pound turkey, which would serve 30 people.

It seems like moms are really passionate about having turkeys cooked in an oven.
One reporter for Memphis local station WHBF even got a free ham out of the prank.
I was joking with my family and texted them asking how long to microwave a whole turkey for. My mom freaked out, but she didn’t even call me to discuss… she just bought a ham and overnighted it from Miami to Memphis. This joke went extremely well for me!!🤣??🍖 pic.twitter.com/YmwT2siJUm

While it is technically possible to cook a small turkey in a microwave, it isn’t recommended, as it will not be heated evenly throughout. And with a current salmonella outbreak, you might want to leave the cooking to the pros.
