Kids cash in at Abilene chamber business fair

The Abilene Chamber of Commerce held its annual Children's Business Fair at the Mall of Abilene on Saturday.

Open to children ages six to 14, nearly two dozen kids participated in the pop-up market in the courtyard outside the Women's Dillard's store.

"Most of the products here are fashion accessories like jewelry and bracelets," said Ashley DiMauro, the senior director of operations at the chamber. "There's a lot of crocheted items here like yarn goods, and there's just a lot of little home goods too."

Some also sold homemade dog toys, while others offered snacks or something to drink.

"This was in partnership with Abilene teachers Federal Credit Union," DiMauro said. "And then, of course we have other sponsors: Atmos Energy, the Mall of Abilene and Junior Achievement."
