Killers of the Flower Moon Featurettes
Not one but three featurettes are taking us behind-the-scenes of Killers of the Flower Moon, complete with all-new footage from the film and insights from the actors who star in it.
Just as Blue Beetle dropped its first 10 mins free, so too has AppleTV+ and Paramount spilled some juicy Scorsese scenes.
The first featurette explores the character of Mollie Burkhart (Lily Gladstone), a Native American woman who finds herself wrapped up in a turbulent relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Ernest Buckhart as her family is exploited.
“Oil wells brought a lot of undesired attention to Osage Country…when the murders start happening, Mollie challenges the justice system,” says Gladstone. A shot of her exiting a courthouse alone suggests she might have a bigger role in the film than the trailers suggest.
There’s also a featurette focusing on Robert De Niro’s William King Hale, the antagonist of the film. Although don’t expect to see De Niro himself as a talking head here. It seems he didn’t sign up for the promo tour. Oh well, we’ll have to settle for Scorsese and DiCaprio instead.
The final featurette shines its light on the co-star of the film, Leonardo DiCaprio. He plays Ernest Buckhart, a man who travels to Oklahoma, falls in love with Mollie, and under the influence of his uncle, sinks deeper and deeper into crime. “Ernest is a real-life representation of the incredible greed of that time,” says DiCaprio.
Killers of the Flower Moon released 18 October.
