Kim Kardashian calls nude W magazine cover 'one of her favorites' after crying about it on TV show
Kim Kardashian calls her nude cover of W magazine one of her favorites over a decade after crying about the revealing images on an episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York.
The 41-year-old reality star and mogul went down memory lane in a YouTube video posted on Friday that shared an inside look at her SKKN by Kim office. Among the 40,000 square foot space, Kardashian shared that two walls decorated with her magazine covers from over the years were her favorite feature.
"These walls make me so happy. These are all of my memories. I have a memory for each cover. I mean, every cover is so special to me. I could tell you where I was, what I was doing, who I was with," she said as she approached the first wall covered with prints. She then pointed to the infamous photo from that appeared on W magazine's art issue in 2010. "This is probably one of my favorites. I hated it at the time. I cried so hard at the time for being so naked inside. But now I love it."
The cover image was one of Kardashian completely nude, with banners of the words "It's all about me; I mean you; I mean me" strategically placed over her body. Within the magazine's pages, even more of her figure was revealed.
Photographer Mark Seliger captured Kardashian in nothing but her own skin and some glamorous hair and face makeup. Some of the photos showed her decorated with a metallic silver paint, done by makeup artist Gucci Westman. Although she seems to appreciate the look now, an episode of one of her reality TV spinoffs showed Kardashian having a negative reaction to the spread.
"Mom, have you seen my cover? I feel so f***ing taken advantage of!" she said on the phone with Kris Jenner while filming, according to Us Weekly. "They promised me I'd be fully covered. Did you see the inside? I just am never getting naked again."
Kardashian has seemingly changed her mind since then, as she famously broke the internet with an even more risqué shoot with Paper magazine in 2014 where she was stripped down and covered in body oil. The cover wasn't mentioned in her office tour, but she shared that she has "a story for every" magazine — even her very first.
"This K9 dog [cover], I’ll always keep up. People won't understand it. That was probably the first magazine cover I've ever been on," she said, pointing to an image of her on the cover of a lifestyle magazine for dog lovers, cuddling with one herself. "I probably told this story before. I wanted to be on the cover of a magazine so badly and K9 dog magazine called. I remember I begged Khloé and Nicole Richie to borrow their dogs because I didn't have a dog and I wanted to be on the cover of a magazine. I don't know whose dog that is, it's one of theirs. But it worked and I landed myself the cover of K9 dog magazine."
Kardashian has appeared on the front of countless magazines since, most recently talking about her desire to maintain a youthful appearance in Allure. Nevertheless, her evolution has been documented by the publications now appearing on her walls.
