Kim Kardashian criticized for letting 5-year-old North West wear 'inappropriate' red lipstick in Christmas photos

Her decision to let 5-year-old daughter North West wear makeup on special occasions has always divided opinion, and now Kim Kardashian has sparked outrage after sharing pictures of her little girl wearing red lipstick for Christmas.

Fans couldn’t help but comment about North‘s wearing a vibrant red lip shade at Kris Jenner‘s pre-Christmas party, and quite a few weren’t happy about it.

“Why does that beautiful girl wear red lipstick?” wrote one user. “She is enough with her youth.”

“Beautiful family — yet you’re putting them in the spotlight tooo early! Let them be babies, please,” another wrote.

“Why is your baby girl wearing lipstick? Inappropriate,” asked another fan.

“Baby girl don’t need the red lips … she is 5,” one follower argued.

Kardashian tried to preempt the backlash by explaining on Twitter why she had let her daughter wear that particular makeup item — which hails from her KKW Beauty line. According to the reality star, it was North’s choice to wear the bold lip.

Indeed, some fans defended the mom.

“Don’t get mad over a little kid playing with makeup, it’s not that serious,” wrote one.

“North is gorgeous!” added another. “Nothing wrong with playing with makeup.”

“Are you gonna tell me that you didn’t use makeup from your mom when you were little?” read another comment supporting Kardashian.
