Kim Kardashian Is Facing Backlash Over Her Tone Deaf Advice for Working Women

The key to success for women in business is to just go to work, according to Kim Kardashian.
Simple, right? Well, not so much. On Wednesday, Kim found herself in hot water over her controversial, and not to mention totally tone deaf, comments during a chat with Variety alongside her sisters Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian and their mother, Kris Jenner. In the interview, the beauty mogul gave her "best advice for women in business," and it ended up going viral for all the wrong reasons.
"I have the best advice for women in business: Get your f—ing ass up and work," she said. But wait, it gets worse. She added, "It seems like nobody wants to work these days." Continuing to explain her theory, Kim went on, "You have to surround yourself with people that want to work. Have a good work environment where everyone loves what they do because you have one life."
Needless to say, people were swift to call out Kim, a billionaire who was born into a life of privilege and has her own reality TV show, for her so-called words of wisdom. In the comments section of Variety's Instagram post, one user sarcastically responded, "You have to surround yourself with a family that is already rich. That's the trick." Another pointed out that Kim's team of assistants and nannies are the ones who allow her to go into the office everyday, and that not everyone can afford childcare. Meanwhile, others thought it was a joke (it wasn't). "This looks like an SNL bit," said one critic.
After her comments made the rounds on the internet, a former employee for the Kardashians spoke out and revealed that she worked "days, nights, and weekends" and barely made enough money to make ends meet. "I was an editor on the Kardashian apps in 2015 in LA, worked days nights & weekends, could only afford groceries from the 99 Cents Only Store, called out "sick" more than once bc I couldn't put gas in my car to get to the office, & was reprimanded for freelancing on the side," she tweeted.

Kim didn't respond to the backlash, but for those who think her work is easy, she had this to say: "When you do product shots (or) when you (post) things that are work-related posts, it's still a job and it's still really hard. Success is never easy. If you put in the work, you will see results."
