‘Scariest home ever’: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West open the doors to their modern L.A. mansion
Kim Kardashian stirred up intrigue and conversation about her home when Instagram followers got a tour of the reality star’s kitchen on the social media platform. Now, she and Kanye West are giving people a look into the rest of their modern mansion in the latest issue of Architectural Digest.
The A-list duo opened the doors of the minimalist home to the magazine to show off a few of their favorite areas, including the primary kitchen, the pool and the enviable master bathroom. And although the couple prides themselves on the “simplicity of the design,” others on social media are calling the monochromatic living space “depressing.”
“That house looks depressing” and “Scariest home ever” were just two of the responses garnered on Kardashian’s Instagram slideshow of the photos featured in AD.

The post showcased Kardashian’s favorite images of the home, excluding the one photo from the feature that included the family. Naturally, people had questions about the functionality of the white and cream space when living with four children.
“Where are all the THINGS- that you use everyday? Where are the kids toys?” someone questioned. Another wrote, “It’s lovely.... but does anyone live in it?”
West and Kardashian, however, told the publication that the space is more well-suited for children than people assume. In fact, there are kid-friendly rooms that are tucked away throughout the home. And when it comes to the stark hallways, they actually serve as a great area for the kids to scooter around.
“In the end, we don’t take it too seriously,” West said. “We’re not going to be fanatics.”
The creativity expressed in some of those kid-friendly areas is demonstrated in a photo included in Kardashian’s slideshow of the room of the couple’s eldest child, North. Among the muted whites throughout the rest of the home, the 6-year-old’s pink butterfly room stands out.
“North’s room literally looks like something out of a movie,” one person commented. Another said, “thank god y’all put aside the minimalism for norths [sic] room.”
Still, plenty of people loved the aesthetic of the rest of the Kardashian West household and even called it a “masterpiece.”
“Your homes [sic] style is unique and serene,” someone praised. “So chic Kim,” wrote another.
