Kim Kardashian is showing off bling again, post-Paris robbery

Kim Kardashian is known for her social media presence, posting daily updates of her life on Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. But the social media maven and reality star backed off when it came to boasting about material goods after it led to a life-threatening experience in Paris just over a year ago.

After an armed robbery that caught Kardashian, and the world, off-guard during Paris Fashion Week in October 2016, the mother of two made a major lifestyle change.

“I know this sounds crazy, but I know that was meant to happen to me,” the 37-year-old said during an appearance on The Ellen Show, fighting back tears. “I was definitely materialistic before. … I don’t care to show off the way that I used to. It’s not to say that I’ll never wear jewelry again or anything like that, I truly don’t know if I’d ever feel comfortable, I truly don’t know if I’d ever wear real jewelry again.”

But on Wednesday evening, Kardashian storied a photo with a blingy grill on her bottom teeth for the first time since before the robbery, making people wonder if she’s back to her old social media ways.

Just before the robbery that took place in her Paris hotel room, Kardashian was actively sharing her flashiest jewels and lavish lifestyle — from a photo with a 404-carat diamond to a few posts on a private jet. And there was hardly a photo that didn’t show off her 20-carat “upgraded” engagement ring.

However, the post that seemed to gain the most attention, from both fans and, apparently, from Kardashian’s attackers, was the one that showed off a gold and diamond set of grills, along with the giant diamond ring.

Captioned with diamond emojis, the post was the last of Kardashian’s old aesthetic before the traumatic incident took place and led the mogul to turn a new leaf. Posted on Sept. 29, 2016, the photo was followed up with a few outfit shots from PFW before an unexpected social media blackout that lasted three months.

When Kardashian reemerged on her most-followed platform, she had noticeably changed up her whole ‘gram game, reflecting what was now most important to her.

Family was at the forefront of her return, with an entire gallery of photos of herself, Kanye West, and their children, North and Saint, taking over her feed. Ever since, her aesthetic has been more simple, and business-oriented, with a focus on KKW Beauty and Yeezy’s latest collections. As for jewelry, the most that Kardashian has rocked publicly since the robbery are a couple of layered gold necklaces — until one post in September, when she showed off some “icee.”

Kardashian may still be taking precautions with her less flashy aesthetic, but the personalized grill may just foreshadow an extra comeback.
