Kim Kardashian stuns in Tom Ford front row while Kendall and Gigi strut by on runway
The Tom Ford runway fshow is always a star-studded affair. No one would expect anything less from the seasoned designer, whose fashion soirée two seasons ago included an intimate dinner with friends Uma Thurman, Alicia Keys, and Tom Hanks.
This year was no different.
Kim Kardashian sat in the front row wearing a skintight black patent-leather dress — without husband Kanye West by her side. (Interestingly, he is dipping out of his own NYFW show this season.) Next to Kardashian sat Ciara and legendary, grammy-winning artist Chaka Khan. Beside Ford favorite Julianne Moore sat supermodels Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen, each in a dazzling, sequined gown, along with fresh-faced models Doutzen Kroes and Karlie Kloss.
For spring/summer 2018, Ford brought his show back to the basics: a simple venue space, an A-plus guest list, and a glamorous yet understated collection that embodies his brand’s sultry and sophisticated spirit. Luxurious leathers became low-slung trousers and were paired with leotards, metallic bomber jackets and disco minidresses, and structured, pointed blazers were paired with slinky tanks and cap-toe pumps in shades like hot pink and royal blue.
The final leg of the show showcased Ford’s formal, black-tie-occasion wear, and was displayed by “it”-girl models Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Binx Walton, Lexi Boling and Joan Smalls, who wore an array of tuxedo suits and body-clinging Grecian-style gowns with sequined sleeves. Eva Chen wrote on Instagram that the dress worn by Hadid was “Star Trek meets millennial pink meets Gigi Hadid meets Tom Ford.”
The show ended promptly afterwards, the customary catwalk finale replaced with a simple bow by Mr. Ford himself.
Leave it to Tom to kick off NYFW with a bang.
