Kim Kardashian tweets support for gun ban after New Zealand shooting: 'America take note!'
New Zealand is very different from the United States — and that’s never been more apparent than in the country’s reaction to a tragic mass shooting. New Zealand attorney general David Baker announced on Friday that the country was going to ban semi-automatic weapons. following Friday’s terroristic attack at two Christchurch mosques. And while the government hasn’t finalized that plan, many have expressed support for the swift response.

One person who’s a fan of Baker’s announcement is Kim Kardashian. She retweeted the news about New Zealand, adding that the United States should “take note” of New Zealand’s response.
Just 24 hours after the Christchurch shooting New Zealand bans semiautomatic guns! 👏🏼
America take note! Why can’t our
elected officials put public safety over gun manufacturers’ profits?!?! https://t.co/nsufYNygoO— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) March 16, 2019
Not everyone who responded to Kardashian’s tweet agreed with the message, though. Conservative actress Mindy Robinson criticized Kardashian for speaking out when her own family lives in a gated community.
Cause screw people that can’t afford their own gated community and private security, amirite?

Others pushed the argument that criminals will still find access to guns, even if they’re outlawed.
Because America realizes that only people that abide by the law will ban guns, the criminals that do these shootings will still have their guns.

New Zealand/Australia have some of the strictest gun laws but people still acquire them. It’s like drugs, if they want it, they’ll always find it somehow illegal or not. Taking away guns from law abiding citizens only hurts us more.

Drugs are illegal/banned correct? But criminals still get them. Imagine guns being banned, so none of the good law abiding citizens have one. Then, all of the criminals are walking around with illegal/banned guns. We’d all be more vulnerable to those criminals and guns. #think

Kardashian has at least one supporter, though: sister Khloé Kardashian.
Yes sister! Yes!!!!!! Let’s end this senseless violence

Kardashian has been outspoken about politics recently, and this is the second time she’s spoken out this week about an issue that’s important to her. On Tuesday, she praised California’s decision to end the death penalty.
I have met with and am very supportive of Governor Newsom and his decision to help bring an end to the California Death Penalty. Racial bias and unfairness run deep throughout the justice system but especially when it comes to the death penalty.
