Kimberly Williams-Paisley Says She Underwent Major Surgery After Struggling with Her Voice: 'Sounding So Much Better!'
In a post on Instagram, the actress explained that she has "damage to my laryngeal nerve"
Kimberly Williams-Paisley is sharing an update on her health after recently having surgery.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, Aug. 17, the Father of the Bride star, 52, told her followers that she underwent an operation to repair damage to her laryngeal nerve after struggling with her voice for nearly two years.
"I’ve been going through a thing," Williams-Paisley began the caption of a carousel of photos featuring the actress lying in bed wearing a hospital gown and showing off a large scar on her neck. She included a warning image before the scar photo, which also featured a drawing of a face that she said her brother drew over it with a marker.
"Almost two years ago I lost my voice onstage at my Alzheimer’s event in Nashville. It was embarrassing & scary & it never quite came back," Williams-Paisley continued in the post, explaining the origin of the health issue. "It’s been a challenging couple of years, but we finally got to the bottom of it."
"I have damage to my laryngeal nerve," she shared, adding that she tried "everything" she could to heal her voice on her own, so she doesn't need tips from her fans and followers.
"I was finally able to have surgery this week at @vanderbilthealth with expert surgeons, & it is sounding so much better!!" the Hallmark star wrote. "I have a bada** scar that’s smiling at me across my neck."
The We Are Marshall star has had a busy summer despite her vocal troubles. In mid-July, she went on a "low-key" lunch date with her friend Meghan Markle at Tre Lune in Montecito, Calif.

A day before revealing that she'd had surgery, the mom of two teenage boys — whom she shares with her husband, Brad Paisley — asked her Instagram followers for advice on parenting a high school senior.
"Sun has set on the summer of 2024 and this week I have my first HS senior!" she captioned a scenic photograph featuring a sunset.
She added, "Parents who’ve been there done that: Send me all the wisdom. My eyes keep getting wet! ????????."
