King Charles III is starting his reign by expressing his love for his kids.

In his first public address as sovereign of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth realms, the king made a loving mention to Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. The couple—who currently live in California with their children, three-year-old Archie and one-year-old Lilibet—have previously talked about their struggles while living as working members of the royal family since stepping back from their senior roles in 2020.

King Charles began his speech by commemorating the life of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away yesterday. "I speak to you today with feelings of profound sorrow," he said. "Queen Elizabeth was a life well lived; a promise with destiny kept and she is mourned most deeply in her passing. That promise of lifelong service I renew to you all today."

Reflecting on the transformative effect her passing has on the rest of the royals, he continued, "This is also a time of change for my family." He expressed his gratitude for the public service taken on by his wife, Camilla, the new Queen Consort, as well as Prince William and Duchess Kate, the new Prince and Princess of Wales.

"I want also to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas," the King added.

Though Harry and Meghan are unlikely to gain new titles with Charles's accession to the throne, Archie and Lilibet are now entitled to be referred to by the HRH designation and as prince and princess.
