King Charles has been spotted going about his royal duties for the first time since his daughter-in-law's cancer battle came to light.
The monarch was last spotted leaving Windsor Castle and arriving at Clarence House on the morning of March 19, days before it was revealed that the reason Kate Middleton has been "missing" since undergoing abdominal surgery earlier this year was that she and her family were reeling from the "huge shock" of a cancer diagnosis, not unlike the king's own health journey this year.
On Tuesday, March 26, his meeting with Vijaya Nath, Dame Martina Milburn, and other community faith leaders from across the UK, as part of the Windsor Leadership Trust, was photographed, showing the king dressed in a gray suit as he worked to "encourage[e] and support...dialogue, harmony and understanding at a time of heightened international tension" at Buckingham Palace.
The king hasn't spoken out much on his cancer battle, though family members have offered a few glimpses into his attitude lately. Wife Camilla and Princess Eugenie have both said he's "doing well," with the queen consort sharing his disappointment over missing the engagement she spoke to reporters at.
However, his nephew, Peter Phillips, painted a more candid picture when speaking to Sky News Australia over the weekend.
"He's in good spirits," Peter told the outlet. "I think, ultimately, he's hugely frustrated. He's frustrated that he can't get on and do everything that he wants to be able to do. But he's very pragmatic. He understands that there's a period of time that he really needs to focus on himself."
He continued, "But, at the same time, he is always pushing his staff and everybody and his doctors and nurses, to be able to say, 'Actually, can I do this, can I do that?' I think the overriding message would be that he's obviously very keen to get back to a former normality and he's probably frustrated that recovery is taking a little longer than probably he would want it to."
