Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Brings Release Date Forward

Those hoping to see a mighty box office clash between talking apes and biker gangs are about to be disappointed. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is moving to avoid releasing on the same day as Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

Disney’s 20th Century Studios announced the latest movie in the Planet of the Apes series, the first since 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes, is coming out sooner than originally stated.

It’s now got a release date May 10, 2024, bumped up a few weeks from May 24, 2024. Not only does the move out it out of competition with the new Mad Max movie, but moves it from the packed Memorial Day weekend line-up which also includes The Garfield Movie.

Directed by Wes Ball, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes takes place 300 years after the last film, which capped off Cesar’s reign. Ape civilizations now rule the Earth, while humans have regressed back to a primitive state.

We follow young chimpanzee Noa as he embarks on a journey to discover the secrets of his origin while preventing cruel ape leader Proximus Caesar discovering ancient human technologies and enslaving the other ape clans.
