Kit Harington cried when he found out how Game of Thrones will end
Jon Snow no longer knows nothing. Kit Harington, who plays the King of the North in Game of Thrones, has finally learnt how the series will end.
Speaking on The One Show yesterday, the 30-year-old actor revealed that he was reduced to tears at a read-through for the final episode of HBO's hit fantasy series.
“We had the read-through last week, in fact, so I know everything now," he said. "I cried at the end! It wasn’t anything particular that happens. You have to remember, I’ve done eight years of it. I think, no-one really cares about it more than us.
"I get a bit weepy thinking about it. It’s going to be a strange year saying goodbye to everyone and having last scenes with this person and that person. Not only you’re attached to it, loads of people around the world are attached to it.”
Harington also let slip that he plans to have his long hair cut short as soon as filming ends, joking that no-one would be able to recognise him without his distinctive flowing locks.
Game of Thrones season 7: all the details you missed
The much-anticipated eighth series of the George RR Martin adaptation will have only six episodes, down from seven or 10 in previous years. However, it is also set to be the most expensive yet, with a reported budget of $15 million (£11.2 million) per episode.
Filming for the final season is set to begin this October – although the cast will be given a day off mid-production, for Harington's wedding to co-star Rose Leslie, who plays the "wildling" Ygritte.
As yet, no broadcast date for the final series has been announced, though Harington's fans will be able to see more of the actor (and his hair) on BBC One at 9.10pm tonight, in Gunpowder, a new series based on the Gunpowder Plot of 1605.
In the three-part drama, Harington plays his real-life ancestor Robert Catesby, leader of the band of Catholic revolutionaries who planted explosives below the Houses of Parliament in an attempt to assassinate King James I.
