Kit Harington Reveals the Sweet Hidden Meaning Behind Jon Snow's Hair

We know nothing, except the fact that Kit Harington’s (or should we say Hair-ington’s… C’mon, you knew that was coming) Jon Snow from Game of Thrones has the most luscious locks this side of the Seven Kingdoms.

But the actor revealed there’s actually a little bit of a sweet backstory to the ever-evolving hairstyle on the show. He’s grown it out in recent episodes and even started rocking a man bun, a stark contrast (see what we did there?) to the tight ringlet curls from earlier seasons. Per Refinery29, Harington revealed the longer length and added unruly-ness in seasons six and seven were a tribute to his stand-in father.

“They wanted me to look more like Ned Stark,” he said. “There’s a real reason behind [my hairstyle],” he says, “to show how the story was evolving,”which fans have long theorized as another piece of physical evidence of Snow shedding his black Night’s Watch furs to take his seat at the head of House Stark, having defeated the Boltons and reclaimed Winterfell for the family.

Of course, HBO has forbidden Harington from changing up his hairstyle ’til season eight reshoots and edits are complete. “They own me, they’ve just kept me like this,” Harington told People.

Our only question: What shampoo does he use? (Our bet is it’s called something like Fire ’n’ Ice…)
