The Kitchen at Grace Meadows Farm hosts ‘Equipment Night’
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Kitchen at Grace Meadows Farm kicked off its kids’ night events with “Equipment Night.” Kids’ night will be held every Wednesday in July.
Local children visited Grace Meadows Farm to learn about machinery, equipment operations and farm life. They were invited to climb on and explore the machines.
Organizer Meredith Redman, an elementary school teacher, told News Channel 11 that she wanted the children to learn about the farm while feeling like a true farmer.
“I think my favorite part is just getting to see the kids and their enjoyment of it, their excitement,” Redman said. “There was a kid who came out a few weeks ago on a summer field trip, and he said, ‘I came last year, and I loved being here and getting to see all the stuff that you showed.’ So, I think it’s just fun to see them learning and lighting up and being excited about things that they don’t see every day.”
The children were also entertained by Redman’s storytelling abilities.
“I’m a teacher, an elementary teacher, so [I also give them that literacy aspect.] I read them a story, usually each time, that relates to what we’re learning about and then let them just kind of play.”
Redman said the farm will also host a horse night, a cow night and a night where children can come to learn about vegetables and all things that grow on the farm.
Grace Meadows Farms is located at 170 John France Road in Jonesborough.
