Koa Smith Just Released New Surfing Footage from Big and Beautiful Waimea Bay

By now, you've probably heard about the giant swell that hit the North Shore on Black Friday.

While some people recovered from overeating and others went shopping, big wave surfers like Kai Lenny, Nathan Florence, Koa Rothman, Eli Olson, and Koa Smith went surfing.

Lenny blew our minds at Jaws. The North Shore crew got lucky as the outer reefs turned on, the wind stayed calm, and all of the elements came together for perfect, giant waves. Something to be grateful for.

Smith is the latest of the big wave surfers to release his footage of the Black Friday swell.

He dropped his latest vlog today and captioned it:

"Surfing Thanksgiving XXL Swell in Hawaii.

"First XXL swell of the Hawaii season slams the North Shore of Oahu.

"Our focus [is] Waimea, one of the OG big wave surfing spots!"

Smith opens the video with the forecast:

"The buoys really snuck up on us last night, the swell filled in way bigger. Waimea's as good as it gets. It's probably like thirty feet, perfectly offshore."

Smith, who's an alternate this year for the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational, decides to "go out there and get some practice."

He adds that it's "almost" as big as the swell that fueled last year's Eddie.

From there, it's epic POV footage from Smith's GoPro.

The conditions are all-time and the weather is gorgeous.

As usual, Smith's just super stoked and smiling.

Press play above for an epic day at the bay.
