Kourtney Kardashian Defends Getting Pregnant in Her 40s

Kourtney Kardashian clapped back at those criticizing her for having a child while in her 40s, as she prepares to welcome her first child with husband Travis Barker and her fourth overall.

While speaking with Vanity Fair Italia, the publication asked her how she felt about comments regarding her pregnancy later in life, noting that many other women have gotten pregnant around the same age.

Kardashian responded, "Those comments don't affect me. To those who do them I just say: how dare you question God's plan? Because that's how I see this pregnancy, which in fact arrived when both Travis and I no longer even thought about it and a year after we stopped trying with assisted fertilization."

Kardashian discussed trying assisted fertilization, saying, "My intuition was telling me that she wasn't right for me," before she noted, "I kept telling Travis: if we're meant to have a baby, then it's just going to happen. And so it was: when we stopped forcing the process, then it happened."

The reality TV star, who announced her pregnancy with Barker in June, also commented on her confidence in her body. "I have always loved my body. Khloé [Kardashian] always told me that she wished she had an ounce of my confidence. At home I'm always naked and whoever comes to me knows it, he's warned," she said in the new interview.

"During adolescence I was pressured, like everyone else, to be thinner and fitter, just as after having children I was pressured to get back into shape immediately, as if there was a social expectation that asks how long a woman will take to go back to how it was before," Kardashian stated.

Kardashian continues to show off her pregnancy on social media with plenty of great photos, which Vanity Fair Italia commented on, saying, "it seems that pregnancy has made her even more confident in herself."

The Kardashians star responded, "Feeling life grow inside me is a truly special and incredible experience. It's like a superpower, but at the same time it's a very vulnerable time and I think when you're vulnerable your truest self is even more powerful."

The 44-year-old will soon welcome her fourth child, whom she and Barker revealed is a boy. The baby will join Kardashian's three other children, Mason, 13, Penelope, 11, and Reign, 8, whom she shares with ex Scott Disick.
