Half of the fun of getting Krispy Kreme donuts is going to the shop, getting yourself a little paper hat, and smelling all the delicious donut smells before finally making your donut selection. But not all of us have the time to do that every single time the craving for a donut strikes. Thankfully, Krispy Kreme just changed all of our lives with its announcement that it's offering nationwide delivery for the first time.

Starting on February 29, you can get hot and fresh Krispy Kreme donuts delivered to your home pretty much whenever you want them. The chain began offering delivery and online ordering as a test in select U.S. markets in 201, but this marks the first time that nearly every single U.S. shop will be getting access to Krispy Kreme delivery.

This means that you can get a glazed donut delivered to you when you're too sick to leave the house. You can surprise your friend with a dozen cake batter donuts delivered to them when they get dumped. And you can even get a bunch of raspberry jelly filled donuts if you're still housebound after having a baby.

Speaking of which, Krispy Kreme is celebrating the launch of nationwide delivery with a gift to expectant parents, families, doctors, nurses and other maternity ward staff. On Leap Day, if you're located at a hospitals within 10 miles of most Krispy Kreme shops, you can post on social media when a baby is delivered, naming the hospital, tagging @KrispyKreme and using #KrispyKremeSpecialDelivery.

Throughout the day, Krispy Kreme will be surprising some participants with deliveries of five dozen free doughnuts to celebrate the delivery of Leap Day babies. Donuts and babies, what could be better?

Even if you don't have any babies on the way, you can still celebrate Leap Day with your own special delivery of donuts from Krispy Kreme. What a time to be alive.
