Kristen Bell, 41, Swears by a Duo of Serums to Keep Her Skin ‘Bouncy and Hydrated’

  • Kristen Bell loves the SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Gel Serum and the iS Clinical Active Serum to combat redness and breakouts.

  • She told Allure that she especially loves that the Phyto Corrective Gel contains hyaluronic acid for hydration.

  • She called the iS Clinical Active serum a less stripping “modern day Sea Breeze.”

At 41, Kristen Bell deals with skin issues that everyone thinks are left in teenagehood. But the reality of it is, plenty of 40-something aged people (and older) deal with pesky redness and breakouts. Thankfully, the Good Place star has found a powerful combo of products that stand up against hers.

To minimize redness, whether it be from sensitized skin or the occasional zit? Bell turns to the celeb-loved brand SkinCeuticals’ Phyto Corrective Gel serum, she recently told Allure. The treatment contains skin-pluming hyaluronic acid, cucumber, thyme, and other botanical extracts to calm and hydrate the skin, as well as mulberry to fade hyperpigmentation. Plus, it’s green in color, which naturally counteracts pinkish skin tones.

Bell loves all of its hardworking properties, but especially praises the wonders of hyaluronic acid, which works as a humectant by pulling water from the environment and delivering it to the skin.

“You need moisture that’s going to penetrate and fluff and bounce your skin from underneath,” she told Allure. “It’s essentially like a sponge. It’ll just fill up your skin with moisture from below to the surface, leaving it bouncy and hydrated.”

Other users of the Phyto Corrective Gel are just as excited about it. “Not only does it help calm and clear the skin but also gives you an immediate beautiful glow/dewy look,” one Dermstore reviewer said of the product. “I have rosacea and this product is fabulous for helping control my redness. My makeup looks so much more even because it helps neutralize the red undertone of my skin,” another added.

As for Bell’s second serum? When the issue at hand exceeds a splotchy bit of redness, the decongesting powers of iS Clinical Active Serum are to the rescue. The actress called it “essentially modern-day Sea Breeze,” which, speaking of teenage years, was a staple (albeit harsh) toner in her routine back then.

The iS Clinical serum is far less stripping than the alcohol-based toners of Bell’s past and much more effective. It’s full of salicylic acid and various botanical extracts that simultaneously keep acne and wrinkles at bay, and Bell isn’t the only one who loves it.

One reviewer called it a “holy grail” product, adding: “It gets rid of those pesky little bumps and smooths my skin overall. Texture and fine lines have also improved.”

“Worth every penny! It clears up my skin from a breakout within a few days and feels really good on,” another wrote. Another shopper called it a “must-have serum.”

As someone who recently created her own CBD-based self-care line, Happy Dance, Bell is what you might call a product connoisseur. So her stamp of approval is a big deal, to say the least.
