While promoting the third season of her TV show, The Good Place, Kristen Bell was informed that she was voted the "most honest celebrity parent in America." "It's because I'm an over-sharer," she joked to Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie on Today. In true form-remember the breast-feeding mishap? Or that bedtime hack?- she didn't hold back when the TV hosts asked her a few more white-lie-inducing parenting questions.

I can only assume her answers were very relatable to most other parents, especially ones with young kids (Kristen and Dax Shepard's daughters are three and five). Does she let her kids wear dirty clothes? "Of course, the answer is duh."

Has she ever dropped something outside on the grass for a second and let her kids eat it? "Of course, I'll eat it."

Does she ever lie to her kids about what time it is? Again, yes. They can't tell time yet! But her biggest truth-bomb, and one that other busy parents will definitely appreciate? She also lies about their birthdays sometimes. "If it's a Wednesday and we can’t celebrate and we’re both working late then guess what? Your birthday is on Saturday. They don’t know!"

Round of applause for this ingenious life hack. Obviously, it'll only work for the first few years of life, but those are the most stressful, right? IDK, not a parent, but I'm here for Kristen's approach.

She does draw two lines, though: No, she doesn't leave her kids in dirty diapers when she's stressed. "When it comes to their comfort, I'll definitely be on top of that." And she rarely lets her girls sit in front of screens to pass time...most TV time is relegated to the weekends, when they watch PBS and Disney shows. And if the kids do watch TV during the week, it's a nature show. Like most things in life, it's all about balance.
