A new fit by Kseniaschnaider pays homage to the brand’s Ukrainian roots.

The brand recently bowed the Cossack jean, a style inspired by the centuries-old trousers worn by Ukrainian Cossacks. Designed for riding, the pant style is marked by a voluminous silhouette, wide waistband and tapered hems.

“By combining traditional craftsmanship with a minimalist and urban aesthetic, we offer a unique fusion of old and new,” the brand stated. “These jeans maintain the wide-legged silhouette of sharovary, but their sleek lines, denim fabric, and high-quality construction bring them into the modern era.”

Though the Ukrainian sharovary is not as common today as it once was, the brand said it’s still a popular element of Ukrainian folk costume, often worn at holidays and festivals.

“I have taken the essence of the past and adapted it to meet the demands of today’s fashion-conscious consumers, said Ksenia Schnaider, co-founder and designer.

The “Made in Ukraine” jean contains 100 percent cotton and comes in light blue and light gray. It retails for $380 and is available now for preorder.

The Cossak is the latest inventive fit by Kseniaschnaider, which is known for its Chewbacca jeans covered with “denim fur” and unconventional ways of reusing and reimagining denim.

Kseniaschnaider collaborated with Adidas Originals and DL1961 this year. The brand also released a limited-edition capsule collection with German e-tailer Zalando.
