Labor Day 2024 weekend in El Paso area: Hatch chile, tacos, lagers, St. Anthony's gorditas

Guitarist Chris Perez, of the legendary Selena Y Los Dinos fame, and Grupo Metal will be in El Paso this weekend to headline the Tacos Y Mas Festival at Club 11:11 in the Northeast. Perez was married to the late Tejano singer.

The festival, put on by Mexican beer brand Estrella Jalisco, will also feature a tribute performance to Selena, various taco vendors and some of the brand's best brews.

It is just one of several festivals happening Labor Day weekend. St. Anthony's Seminary will have its traditional bazaar Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31-Sept. 1.

The Hatch Chile Fest will take place Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31-Sept. 1. The Harvest Wine & Music Festival will return to Las Cruces and feature 17 wineries and 12 bands.

Tacos y Mas Festival with Chris Perez, of Selena Y Los Dinos

The family-friendly festival will take place Saturday, Aug. 31, at Club 11:11, 9740 Dyer St. Gates will open at 2 p.m. Live performances by Grupo Metal featuring Chris Perez, a Selena tribute and D-Sides DJ sensation. There will be various taco vendors, and Estrella Jalisco will offer fine brews and other drinks. There will also be a petting zoo and carnival-style games for kids. General admission tickets are $19.99, plus fees, and Tier 2 VIP tickets are $40, plus fees, available online at tacosymasfestival.com/? Free admission for kids 12 and under.

Aurellia's Bottle Shop & Brewhouse to host Lagers of Love

Aurellia’s Bottle Shop & Brewhouse is hosting its first charity event, Lagers of Love, on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 1620 Resler Drive. Presented and sponsored by the UTEP Alumni Association. The event will showcase a variety of lagers, dark to light. One dollar from every pint poured that day will be donated to four charities: El Paso Matters, Rescue Runners, Fab Lab El Paso and Autism Society of El Paso. Doors open at noon with a special menu with drink tickets and merchandise. Music and entertainment in the evening.

St. Anthony's Seminary's annual bazaar

For many El Pasoans, St. Anthony's Seminary kermes is a fun way to celebrate Labor Day weekend. The seminary comes alive with festive booths selling enchiladas, gorditas and other items at 4601 Hastings Drive. The fiesta will be from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, to Monday, Sept. 2. Expect plenty of food for sale, including enchiladas, flautas, gorditas, Loteria and other games. Admission is free.

Hatch Valley Chile Festival

The Hatch Valley Chile Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 - Sunday, Sept. 1. The parade will kick off the festivities at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. Music will start at 11 a.m. both days on the Main Stage.

Harvest Wine & Music Festival Las Cruces

The Harvest Wine & Music Festival will feature 17 wineries and 12 bands over a three-day event. The festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 31- Monday, Sept. 2, at the Southern New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo Grounds, 12125 Robert Larson Blvd., Las Cruces.

Tickets start at $44 for two people and are available online at newmexicowinefestivallascruces.holdmyticket.com. Discounts are available for military personnel and designated drivers.

Franciscan Festival will be Labor Day weekend

The Franciscan Festival of Fine Arts, featuring more than 90 artists, will take place during Labor Day weekend at the Holy Cross Retreat Center, 600 Holy Cross Road in Mesilla Park, N.M. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1.

The festival, which has existed for 20 years, brings artists, food vendors and entertainment together in a peaceful setting with a beautiful chapel. The artists will be both inside buildings and outside in the shade. Food vendors will include enchiladas, flautas and gorditas.

There will be live music on two stages, a beer and wine garden, and a silent auction. Parking and entrance are free; donations are accepted.
