Lady Gaga’s ‘A Star Is Born’ London Premiere Gown Was Fit for a Queen (Specifically, Elizabeth I)
When it came time for Lady Gaga to choose her latest A Star Is Born red carpet gown, she went back, like way back, for inspiration.
At the London premiere of the much-anticipated film, “Goddess Gaga” channeled Queen Elizabeth I (ya know, ruler of England and Ireland from 1558 to 1603) in a couture Alexander McQueen gown.
Not sure what Elizabeth I’s signature look was? Here’s a quick refresher.
Uncanny, right?
Anyway, in old-world royal fashion, Gaga’s getup was encrusted with gold and pearls (Queen Elizabeth II’s fave) and came courtesy of McQueen’s archived fall 2013 runway collection. The gown was designed by the fashion house’s current creative director, Sarah Burton, who also designed Kate Middleton’s wedding dress. (Another royal tie-in!)
First she collabed with Prince William and now this? It looks like Gaga is as into the royal family as we are.
