Lady Gaga Went Full Audrey Hepburn in aBlack Gown and Giant Diamonds at the 2019 Oscars
One of the biggest nights of Lady Gaga's award season run for A Star Is Born has just begun, and Lady Gaga truly dressed for it. The singer has just arrived at the Academy Awards wearing a dramatic black gown by Alexander McQueen. She accessorized with the Tiffany Diamond from Tiffany & Co.-a 128.54 carat diamond that has only been worn three times at major award ceremonies throughout its 142 year history. (One of the other times it was worn? By Audrey Hepburn for her Breakfast at Tiffany's publicity photos in 1961.)
Gaga styled her hair in a Holly Golightly-esque up-do. She was really doing the Oscars version of Hepburn's iconic Breakfast at Tiffany's look.
Gaga is newly single at the Oscars, so while the singer has walked every award show solo, her ex-fiancé Christian Carino won't be joining her during the event or be at her side inside. The two's breakup was confirmed on Tuesday this week after rumors started the week before. A source told People that the split wasn't really dramatic. "It just didn’t work out. Relationships sometimes end. There’s no long dramatic story," the source said.
Gaga has worn statement fashion throughout her award season run. At the Golden Globes, she kicked it off with a sartorial tribute to Judy Garland. Gaga wore a giant blue gown by Valentino with her hair dyed to match it. Her hair was in a Cinderella-like bun to complement the Hollywood starlet aesthetic:
At the Critics' Choice Awards, Gaga went for an equally feminine and pastel look. She walked the carpet in a pink strapless gown by Calvin Klein by Appointment
At the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Gaga channeled Marilyn Monroe with her bleach blonde hair and her white gown with a very high leg slit by Dior Haute Couture:
And at the Grammys two weeks ago, Gaga wore a sequin silver Celine dress by Hedi Slimane. She accessorized with over 100 carats of Tiffany & Co. diamonds.
