The last time most of the internet saw Lana Del Rey, she was working a shift at Waffle House; but tonight, we’re seeing her at the 66th annual Grammy Awards. The singer hit the red carpet in a vintage transparent black lace dress that reached her knees. She debuted her raven locks and blunt bangs, and accessorized with lots of bows: a black ribbon tied in her hair, tulle gloves with bows on the wrist, and black pumps with bows on the toes.
She posed on the red carpet alongside Taylor Swift, who wore a white Schiaparelli Couture corset dress with black opera gloves.
Del Rey received an impressive five nominations: Best Alternative Music Album and Album of the Year for Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, Best Alternative Music Performance and Song of the Year for “A&W,” and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Candy Necklace” featuring Jon Batiste.
Del Rey’s last Grammys appearance was in 2020, so fans have been awaiting her attendance for a few years now. At the time, she wore a shimmering silver beaded Art Deco-style dress. Her hair was pinned into a simple updo.
She brought her then-boyfriend, Live PD’s Sean Larkin, as her plus-one.
In an interview with ET on the red carpet, Del Rey revealed that she had originally planned to wear a different dress, but ended up changing her mind and got her dress from the mall.
“I had another dress, and then my boyfriend and I were getting a belt for him at the mall, and I saw this, and I loved it,” she explained. “So this is a last-minute dress. But I love it!”
Del Rey was first linked with Larkin in September 2019. In December 2019 she made their relationship Instagram official, but just three months later, in March 2020, Larkin confirmed their split.
“Right now, we’re just friends,” he told The New York Times. “We still talk and whatnot. We just have busy schedules right now.”
