Lance Kerwin, 'James at 16' Star, Dead at 62

The actor's family confirmed his passing in a statement shared on Wednesday.

TV actor Lance Kerwin has died. He was 62.

One of Kerwin's daughters, Savanah, confirmed his passing in a heartbreaking statement made via Facebook on Wednesday.

"Hello Everyone I am so sorry to those we have not been able to reach out to personally to notify but Lance Kerwin passed away yesterday morning. We appreciate all the kind words, memories, and prayers that have been shared," the Jan. 25 post read.

"As the coming weeks progress, I will share more information about after life ceremonies," she concluded, "He loved each and every one of you."

The actor is survived by his five children, Savanah, Fox, Terah, Kailani, and Justus. No information regarding his cause of death was immediately available.

Kerwin was born on Nov. 6, 1960, in Newport Beach, California. The actor first rose to fame in the late '70s, most notably for starring in the NBC teen drama James at 16 from 1977 to 1978. He also made regular guest appearances on many other popular television series of the decade, including The Family Holvak (1975), a variety of ABC Afterschool Specials (1974-1976), Salem's Lot (1979), and even an episode of Wonder Woman (1976), among many other credits, per IMDb.

Following the news of his death, Kerwin's former co-star Ike Eisenmann paid tribute on Instagram, writing, "I am beyond heartbroken to hear of the passing of one of my greatest friends and co-stars I have ever worked with, Lance Kerwin. He was the child actor that inspired me to be the best that I could be because he was the best I had ever seen. Rest in peace my friend."
