Lara Trump Becomes First Member of the First Family to Pose for Fashion Magazine
Lara Trump is taking a turn in front of the camera. The wife of President Trump‘s son Eric, who recently announced that she’s expecting her first child, posed for a photo shoot and opened up a bit about life in the first family during a recent interview with Hello magazine.
“Eric and I lead a pretty normal life,” she said. “Our favorite place to be is our home outside of New York City. It’s quiet and relaxing — just the two of us and our dogs.” And new presidential-level security measures haven’t changed that. “The Secret Service is made up of absolutely wonderful people,” she said. “We couldn’t ask for more patriotic, selfless people to be around us.”
When it comes to her famous — and famously divisive — father-in-law, Lara is equally effusive. “He is a man who, first and foremost, loves his family,” she told the magazine. “He is a wonderful storyteller and loves large family dinners. We have such great times together and laugh a lot. He is gracious with his time and has a tremendous heart. He is an incredibly loyal person and never forgets those who are loyal to him.”

Lara, who praised both first lady Melania Trump and her sister-in-law Ivanka for their “impeccable style” during the interview, wore designs from Oscar Garcia-Lopez, a former Project Runway contestant, in the accompanying photo spread.
While this is the first fashion-focused magazine shoot for a member of the first family since the inauguration, it is not the first time that Lara has stepped out in clothing by the Cuban-born designer. She wore brightly colored shift dresses by Garcia-Lopez throughout her father-in-law’s presidential campaign.

She also attended January’s inauguration ball in a sparkling gold gown from the designer.

While many designers, including Sophie Theallet, Zac Posen, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, and Phillip Lim, have publicly refused to dress the first family, Garcia-Lopez says working them is an honor that he only hopes to repeat.
“Working with a member of the first family, in this case Mrs. Lara Trump, was a magnificent experience and a privilege, to say the least,” he tells Yahoo Style. “Lara is the sweetest, most humble, down-to-earth individual. It’s a joy working with such a lovely person, and her friendship, without a doubt, is a treasure. I’m looking forward to doing many other fashion photo shoots with her and Eric in the near future.”
