The Las Vegas Sphere Stage Will Make Its Live TV Debut at the 2024 Grammy Awards
Since opening to the public last year, the Sphere in Las Vegas has quickly become one of the most recognizable buildings in the country — for better or for worse. The state-of-the-art venue features breathtaking LED screens covering the exterior and interior of the building, and Irish rock band has been making full use of the place since launching their "Achtung Baby" residency in September 2023.
The Sphere is currently looking for its next occupants, as U2's residency is set to end in March. But before they leave, they'll be doing a special televised performance live from the Sphere during the Grammy Awards on Feb. 4. With towering screens able to project just about anything one can imagine, it's set to be an unforgettable show, even if you aren't there in person to see it. The band joins performers like Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Olivia Rodrigo, who will take the stage in Los Angeles for performances of their own.

The one-of-a-kind structure first debuted with an exterior light show for the Fourth of July last year. During Formula 1's Las Vegas Grand Prix in November, the building served as the perfect backdrop with the lights of Las Vegas. In addition to hosting U2 shows, the Sphere has effectively become the biggest and brightest billboard in the city, if not the world.
Movies like Trolls Band Together have been promoted on the building's massive "exosphere," as have sports events like the NBA's In-Season Tournament. Other designs, such as an animated face making various expressions, have entertained (or bothered) passersby in recent months. And if you aren't interested in going to a concert there, you can see Darren Aronofsky's new Sphere-specific film Postcard From Earth starting Oct. 6.
Trevor Noah will once again host the Grammy Awards this year, marking the comedian's fourth consecutive year in the role. The ceremony will broadcast live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS and stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.
