It looks like The Last of Us Season 2 may have cast the actor to play Abby, a pivotal character in the second part of the post-apocalyptic thriller.

According to entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider, Kaitlyn Denver is in talks to take on the role, which would add her to the Season 2 cast of Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie.

In the second game, The Last of Us Part 2, Abby is a central playable character, as she takes on a role that rivals Joel in the action and storytelling stakes.

According to the report, Denver has already read for the role of Ellie, which went to Ramsey, during the pre-production of the first season.

Denver is known for her TV roles in Unbelievable, Dopesick and Last Man Standing, and the movies Booksmart and No One Will Save You.

The Last of Us Season 2 is expected to start filming early next year, with the second season likely airing in 2025.

The Last of Us is one of PlayStation's hottest gaming properties, with the TV spin-off also recieving a lot of priase - it notched up 24 Emmy nominations.

Talk of The Last of Us Part 3 began bubbling when Westworld actor Shannon Woodward posted on social media that she was working on a video game project - her only other previous game project was The Last of Us Part 2.
