Laura Dern Reveals She Was Recognized for Role in Taylor Swift Music Video During 'Jurassic Park' Guided Tour

Oh, the irony.

Part of being a leading lady is getting recognized for your roles and learning how to handle fans in the wild–especially once you've earned as many accolades as Laura Dern–but one thing Hollywood stars can't prepare for is a surprising twist of fate.

During her recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Oscar and Emmy-winning actress described one interaction with a fan that was ironic, to say the least.

While Dern was vacationing with friends in Oahu, Hawaii, she stopped by their farm, which happens to be one of the many filming locations for the Jurassic Park franchise.

“I was coming out of their farm, and there’s a guided tour of the sites of Jurassic Park with a little sign saying, ‘Welcome to Jurassic Park,’” she told talk show host Jimmy Kimmel on Friday's episode.

“I was like, you know, post-beach and seeing our friends. We’re getting in the car, and I’m standing right in front of this sign, and here comes a group of people,“ she explained, "This girl comes running up to me and says, ‘Oh my god! Oh my god!’ I was like, this is just… I just want to be with my family. Let’s not do a whole Jurassic Park….”

Only, this girl wasn't here to talk about Dern's role as Ellie Sattler. Instead, she shocked the actress by asking, “Aren’t you the girl in the Taylor Swift video?”

Dern, 55, is in fact "the girl in the Taylor Swift video." She portrays the evil stepmother in Swift's "Bejeweled (Cinderella)" music video, which the country-pop superstar also directed.

Dern said she got involved with the project after Swift personally asked her to be a part of it, "Taylor asked me, and it sounded like such an incredible time, and I was amazed by what a great filmmaker she is."

After laughing it off, The White Lotus star told Kimmel that the fan did ask for a photo, which she agreed to–in front of the “Welcome to Jurassic Park” sign.

You can watch Dern as directed by the award-winning singer for a music video off her most recent studio album, Midnights, on YouTube.
