LeBron James' Son Suffers Cardiac Arrest During Basketball Workout
LeBron James' son and NBA hopeful Bronny James was rushed to the hospital on Monday after suffering cardiac arrest during a workout. The 18-year-old currently plays on the University of Southern California's Trojans men's basketball team, and the medical emergency apparently occurred during a team practice.
According to TMZ Sports, a 911 call was made at 9:26 a.m. Monday from USC's Galen Center, where the team plays and practices. James was reportedly unconscious when the ambulance arrived, and his condition was declared a Code 3 emergency, which means that lights and sirens were employed on the way to the hospital.
"Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest," a spokesperson for the family said in a statement. "Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information."
"LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes," the spokesperson added.
James was named a McDonald's All-American as a high school senior in 2023. As a consensus four-star recruit, he averaged 14 points, five rebounds and three assists at Sierra Canyon during his senior year season. As the eldest son of the Los Angeles Lakers forward, Bronny is expected to follow his father's footsteps into the NBA.
